Well done to all the children of Year 2 and your families for the amazing response to the home learning. With the emphasis of home learning being based on the work on the website, we have seen less use of Purple Mash. We love seeing all of your hard work and would really like you to share it with us on Purple Mash. Also remember if you need help, send us an e-mail via 2email on Purple Mash. In English we have started work based on ‘Croc and Bird’ by Alexis Deacon. For our introduction to writing we learnt how to use exclamation marks effectively. We then wrote notes and short letters to Croc from Bird and from Bird to Croc. We remembered to use co-ordinating conjunctions which we learnt last week Our reading task was to infer what the characters might be thinking. When we infer we use clues in the text to help us. We focused on how Croc and Bird felt when they saw ‘a lake full of crocodiles by a forest full of birds’. Then we focused on how Croc and Bird felt when they realised that they weren’t brothers. In Maths we subtracted numbers within 20. Our focus was to become fluent in our number facts. During our sessions we played a game to help us build fluency in counting backwards, we subtracted single digit numbers and we used part-whole models. Once again, thank you for your support and please remember you are doing a fantastic. We are very proud of the effort everyone is putting in to continue some learning at home during this difficult time. Remember it’s also important that you spend quality time with your children and just enjoy spending time together baking, colouring, playing games, drawing, building etc.
Best wishes Mrs Field, Mrs Rudman and Mrs Argrave
