Children celebrated the 75th Anniversary of VE Day at the weekend

Well done to all the children of Year 2 and your families for the amazing response to the home learning. Lots of children celebrated the 75th Anniversary of VE Day at the weekend and we loved seeing your pictures on Purple Mash. With the emphasis of home learning being based on the work on the website, we have seen less use of Purple Mash. We love seeing all of your hard work and would really like you to share it with us on Purple Mash. Also remember if you need help, send us an e-mail via 2email on Purple Mash. This week we have continued to base our work on ‘Croc and Bird’ by Alexis Deacon. In our writing we continued to use exclamation marks. We wrote diary entries, character descriptions and a letter to Greenpeace. The reading tasks got us thinking about the text. During the first task we answered questions about what we had read. The second task helped us to really understand the characters, we considered everything we knew about the characters. Then we compared the characters of Croc and Bird. Our final task was to describe the sunset, we made some fantastic pictures to accompany our descriptions. In Maths we looked at fractions. We made a fraction wall, identified fractions of shapes and discovered how fractions can be represented in different ways. Once again, thank you for your support and please remember you are doing a fantastic. We are very proud of the effort everyone is putting in to continue some learning at home during this difficult time. Remember it’s also important that you spend quality time with your children, With some restrictions being lifted, go for a walk and enjoy the great weather. Best wishes Mrs Field, Mrs Rudman and Mrs Argrave
