We have had a fabulous and exciting start to term 2.
On Monday we had an immersion day which began by reading our key text for this term “Vlad and the Great Fire of London”. We then worked in pairs or small groups to build some basic houses from lolly sticks, paper and straw to create our own version of Pudding Lane. Once the house had been built, we set fire to one of the houses and watched carefully to see how fast the fire spread to the neighbouring buildings. After about 10 minutes there was very little left.
We followed up this activity the following day to discuss the fire and create some key adjectives to build up a bank of vocabulary to use in our classroom learning over the forthcoming weeks.
With the Grange Fireworks display on Wednesday evening as well, we have certainly started term 2 with a bang. We look forward to sharing weekly updates with you though our blog and at our parents evenings next week.
