Year 1 have been busy celebrating Remembrance Day

This week the children in Year 1 have been busy celebrating Remembrance Day by making lots of different poppy themed artwork. We have also been learning to count in 10s and 2s in maths and have been applying this skill in our outdoor areas. In Science we have been learning all about Mammals and have enjoyed watching the live stream of the Meerkats at the Cotswold Wildlife Park! We had a go at painting mammals, drawing mammals and sorting animals by thinking about their features.

Look at what else we have been doing in Year 1 this week.

We have been counting in 10s and 2s and solving number problems. Look at the pictures of us putting socks into pairs and counting them. We had 26 socks!

You will never guess what happened but we got a letter from Sonny the Meerkat! He sent us a book all about him and his travels in Namibia. The book is called Meerkat Mail. It is really good.

Look at the letter that he sent us. He left it with his cousins – the Meerkats at a wildlife park!

In PE we are learning some cricket skills. This week we managed to do an under throw and hit a target. Each week our skills are improving!

I can’t wait to see what we will be doing next week!
