Blog term 5 week 6
In this final week of the term, we have had great fun with the sun coming back, if only for a few days!
In English, this week we have continued to look at the book ‘Someone swallowed Stanley’ by Sarah Roberts and we have been able to write our own versions of the story by change some of the characters and including all the skills we have learnt this term from rhyme and similes to expanded noun phrases and adjectives. When we come back after half term we will be looking at the book ‘Manfish: A story of Jacques Cousteau’ by Jennifer Berne.
For maths this week, we have continued to look at money and have been having ago at working out change from 50p and £1. Lots of us struggled with this so it would be great if you had some time to practise this some more with them at home! After the half term, we will be moving onto statistics and capacity.
Science this week included looking at fruit and vegetables and what part of the plants these come from. The children really enjoyed this and have some great ideas and learnt a lot from this lesson. Next term, we will be looking at working scientifically and carrying out some investigations as well as filling any gaps in the children’s science knowledge from lockdown.
This week for PE we continued to build on our ball skills and practised catching a ball. The children really enjoyed being able to do this lesson outside in the sunshine. After half term we will be ??
Next term, we are hoping to do lots of art based on our book, Manfish, so under the sea. If you happen to be visiting the beach this half term could you bring us a few shells to use! Not too many though!
We hope you all have a lovely half term and we hope the sun comes back for it! We will see you on the 8th of June!
Year 2 team!
