Grange Infant School Learning & Education

Student Council

At Grange Infant School, we feel it is very important for children to have an awareness of their rights and their responsibilities as members of both the school and the wider community. In order to give pupils a voice within the school, two children from each class are elected each year, by their peers, to become representatives on the student council.

Members of the student council are expected to demonstrate the highest standard of behaviour and attitude in and out of school, in order to act as role models to other children. They also get the chance to meet with adults within the school to voice their opinions and ideas to keep the school moving forward. The school council themselves have decided that, as a group, they need to be:

  • Reliable.
  • Proud of the school and want it to be the best it can be.
  • Listen carefully to the views of others and take their ideas on board.
  • Enthusiastic and respectful.

Head Boys and Girls

As well as our school council, we have three head boys and three head girls, with one coming from each year 2 class. These pupils have been chosen because they make excellent role models for their peers, work hard, and are polite and well mannered. The head boys and girls have certain responsibilities in school, including:

  • Showing visitors around the school.
  • Working closely with the school council.
  • Supporting assemblies.
  • Working with other classes.
