Year 1 have had a busy week. To start the week, we shared our reading with our parents - thanks to everyone who came to read with their child. The children enjoyed sharing their books. Butterworth class were lucky to have their story time around the camp fire. On Wednesday, we started our drumming lessons. The children were very excited and joined in really well to the song 'We will rock you'.
Our learning in science has focused on birds. We made bird feeders to place around the school to encourage them to visit. Look out in your own gardens to visiting birds. To continue with the science theme, we were extremely lucky to have a science workshop on space and then a visit to the science dome. The children loved it!
We ended the week with Number Day. We started with an assembly completed some activities relating to the book - The Doorbell Rang. We also completed some maths challenges which was great fun!
Our Phonics this week has focused on these graphemes - o-e, o, ou (u), se (z), ce, se (s). Our tricky words are thought, through, friend. Please look out for these.
