The Year 1s have had another busy week at school. In Science, we have been learning all about the five vertebrate animal groups - mammals, birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles. To extend our learning we had a special visitor at school. Spike is a bearded dragon and falls into the reptile group. We each had a turn to ask questions about him and hold him if we wanted to. We also learned about herbivores, carnivores and omnivores and why it's important to understand what they are.

Jeffers class had their first forest school session, where they started to learn various listening and social skills through outdoor activities.

In Phonics, the children have learned the are (sounds like 'air'), tch (sounds like 'ch') and ture (sounds like chuh) graphemes. Our new tricky words were laugh, because and eye. Please look out for these in your everyday environment.

Thank you for your continued support.
