It has been an eventful week in Year 1.

Jeffers have continued their forest school sessions and , this week, they have made popcorn. They then had the chance to try their homemade popcorn.

In Computing, the children have been using the ScratchJr App to learn to write their own algorithms. If you have a tablet at home, you are able to download this App for free if your child would like to have a go.

On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day. The children all looked fantastic in their costumes and had the chance to have a closer look at each other's and the adults' costumes during our World Book Day assembly. All the Year 1 activities were based on 'Where is Wally?' and Mrs Saxby and Mrs Barton even dressed up as Wally and his friend Wanda! We did a 'Where is Wally?' hunt around the school and we wrote our own 'Wally' adventure stories. Please see the photos of a couple of writing examples attached. Everyone had a great day and feel very excited about the wonderful world of books.

In History and English next week, we will start learning a lot of interesting facts about Brunel. Please can you be on the lookout for any Brunel related inventions, buildings, photos and facts out and about town.

Thank you for your continued support.

The Year 1 team.
