During Black History Month, we have explored the life of Katherine Johnson, a mathematician who worked with NASA. The children have discussed how important her work was in helping astronauts into space. We have used her love of mathematics to focus on space related maths activities in early years and years 1 and 2. We have also explored African Music, listening and appraising Simama Ka and Saliboni by Sing with Sandra. We used our voices, bodies and percussion instruments to perform in class these songs.
